Painting Boldly with Color and Message

Artist Katie Humphress loves both bold palette knife paintings in electric colors and soft monochromatic portraits.

For portraits, I love conveying a message. To me, art is spiritual. It's how I connect with God - whom I consider my light source. When I focus on my light source in a painting, I connect with my creator. When I paint a person, I pray for a word or message I feel like God wants the person to know and write it on the heart or iris of the subject.

Some of Katie's portraits have been recently featured around the country. In 2020, Katie's charcoal sketch of Hemingway hung in the Hemingway Home & Museum in Key West and an oil portrait of her mother was featured in an online gallery during the Pandemic.

Inspired by Van Gogh and modern contemporary impressionist, Cara Pabst Moran, Katie paints for the joy of it. Check out her website to see more of her work.
